Nishant Gupta is a young Kathak dancer (Lucknow Gharana) and a Gold medalist whose demonstrative style of combining traditional repertoire with a contemporary stance has been noticed and appreciated by a wide range of admirers. He has received Training in Kathak from Shri Ram Bhartiya Kala Kendre, under Pt. Ram Mohan Mishra Ji & Guru Shikha Khare(Disciple of Pt. BirjuMahraj Ji). With fine kathak abilities, Nishant Gupta has travelled and performed extensively in India & Abroad such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Chandigarh, Pune, Bhopal, Jaipur, Indore, Udaipur, Allahabad, Lucknow, Bakaro, Kunnoor,
Bodh Gaya etc.Places in India to name a few. He also had the honour of acting in performances in Japan, Mongolia, Egyptwith Japanese artist Mr.YasuhitoTakimoto and group in the year 2006 for the World Peace Art Festivalrecent performances include:
Nishant Gupta has also performed in the presence of some legendary personalities such as Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee etc. Nishant Gupta has been awarded a National Scholarship from the Department of Culture, Ministry of Human Resource and Development Government of India. He has won Gold Medal for Kathak competition at Chennai for All India Nehru Yuva Kendra youth festival (2008). He bagged first prize in kathak Akashwani (All India Radio), Shahdol and also in health Mela organized by MTNL New Delhi(2000). Besides being a performer, Nishant is a very passionate teacher and has been imparting training in Kathak to young children and adults for over 10 years. Nishant along with his wife Vandana Gupta started their kathak institute as "Swara Institute of Performing Arts" in 2008 where they impart knowledge of Kathak to the students of different levels and different age groups. Through 'Swara institute of Performing Arts', they provide students a platform (in the form of the live stage) to perform and showcase their Kathak skills acquired during the course of learning (classes). Nishant Gupta aims to preserve and promote kathak by serving himself and the students under his guidance. He also wishes to take Kathak to that level where Indian rich culture and heritage can reach to millions of people across the world. He believes that knowledge of Lay(speed), Taal should be imparted in potential youth to carry the legacy of classical Dance forms forward. He Visioned to collaborate with other similar cultural organizations to encourage and develop among the musically inclined people.
